One thing I appreciate most about working with Profound Leaders is that they expect the best from themselves. They are driven, committed to their goals, often far more accomplished than me, and extremely dedicated to their growth. Working with leaders like this is never short of inspiring.
But the BEST of the Profound Leaders are something special. The best of them are like Rich. Rich was all the things I just listed and more. Rich founded and operated a successful manufacturing business. In one of our coaching sessions together, I learned something from Rich about great leadership.
Rich said, "I used to wake up everyday and think to myself 'I am going to give my best today', or 'Today I am going to improve at this?'
I nodded for him to continue. And while it's true, many great leaders challenge themselves to improve everyday, I knew he had something more to say.
"Well, I started thinking differently," Rich continued, "What if, instead of focusing on me everyday, I started focusing on how I could make my team members better."
Rich elaborated on his words. But it was this statement that was most profound: "What if, instead of focusing on me everyday..."
Leaders grow themselves.
Profound Leaders grow those around them.
They bring out the best in others.
Take a Profound Minute and consider the people around you. In what ways do you bring out their best? Do you have a strategy or a plan?
On the road to becoming a Profound Leader, growing yourself is vital, but bringing out the best in those around you becomes exponential. For you. For your business. For the people you care about.
Go. Be. Profound.
