You Manage STUFF. You Lead PEOPLE.

Can we do away with the term “people manager?”

You don’t manage people. Ever.

Or if you do…I don’t want you on my team.

You manage processes, procedures, policies, precedents, & systems.

You even manage positions and roles.

But you don’t manage people.

You manage stuff. You LEAD people.

People need, and want, to be led.

They need to be inspired, catalyzed, motivated, coached, encouraged, and heard.

These are not managerial actions.

These are leadership actions.

Knowing the difference is a key sign of one’s ability to be a Profound Leader.

Knowing the difference is a key sign of your ability to understand the humanity in leadership, and obligation of management.

Those who lead do not make people an obligation.

They make people a priority.

Go Be. Profound.
